CIC permits access to their state criminal records with the subject's expressed written consent on the state's Release Form, and to entities with purposes provided for by state statute, in health care, banking/finance, military, childcare and schools.
Approved requestors must submit fingerprint cards, the subject need not. The agency, which is not equipped to handle large numbers of subject requests, still suggests employers and public obtain information at the county level.
On state-form request specify if the background check is to be fingerprint-based or name-based. Send the Release Information Request form to the attention of the Special Processing Unit. The subject may specify to who and where to send the results.
