Dodge County, like many of the eastern counties in Nebraska, has a higher population than the western counties. Dodge specifically is the 7th most populated county in the state with about 37,000 residents according to the 2010 census. About 27,000 of those reside within the county seat of Fremont, NE, along with the county courthouse which houses the Register of Deeds and Circuit Clerk. Those two offices, along with the Keene Memorial Library are the primary sources of records for the county. The library is maintained by the Eastern Nebraska Genealogical Society and holds a variety of records for Dodge County, and the surrounding counties, including marriage records dating back to 1900, naturalization records, some property records, and others.
